The Involvement Workers Group was established during September 2009. This was in response to requests from NSUN members to provide support to people with lived experience who facilitate the involvement of their peers within an organisation; people in involvement positions can feel isolated even when they are part of a team. Support from other involvement workers enables the sharing of information, experiences, ideas, successes and challenges.

A questionnaire was sent out to interested people to find out what was wanted from such a group and how it should be run. The group was then set up following the responses to the questionnaire. It has been meeting four times a year, with support from NSUN, and has representation from around England.

Fresh funding for the group is being sought currently. Whilst this is happening, the group will run twice yearly on a voluntary basis.
