LifecraftLifecraft is a Cambridge based self-help organisation run by users and ex-users of mental health services. We provide social contact, weekly group activities and support, counselling, information, website, quarterly newsletter and some opportunities for work. A unique feature of Lifecraft is that it is based on the idea of self-help, which means that over 50% of the trustees, and current staff have experienced mental health issues. All Lifecraft services have developed over the years as a response to what people who use the organisation need. It is a genuinely grass roots organisation that is user-led. Members are able to move from attending the social club to volunteering to undertaking paid work for Lifecraft and ultimately towards gaining part and full-time employment elsewhere. |

Cambridge MDF Self-help group
We are one of over 100 local groups coming under the umbrella of the national charity, MDF The BiPolar Organisation, originally known as 'The Manic Depression Fellowship'. Our aim is to support people affected by bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). That includes people with the diagnosis and their family and friends. All are equally welcome to join. The group is run entirely by people affected in one way or another by bipolar disorder. Our main strength is that only other people with the condition really know what it is like to go through. Likewise, only a fellow carer appreciates the issues of looking after someone with this complex condition. You will find a wealth of knowledge and understanding as well as a place you can speak openly about your experiences |
