Service User Involvement Workers Peer Support and Development Group

The service user involvement workers peer support and development group was established September 2009. This was in response to requests from members to provide support to people who are in a professional role as a direct result of their own personal mental health experiences.

It is also important to acknowledge that involvement positions are often lone roles, even when part of a team. Support from peers is an important aspect of all involvement work as it enables the sharing of information, experience, successes and challenges.

A questionnaire was sent out to interested people asking what was wanted from such a group and how it should be run. The group was set up following the responses to the questionnaire and now meets every two months in London and has representation from around England.

Funding is being sought to continue to grow this network. NSUN has supported this group for 12 months.
